Instruments

 

Solution600

The 600 MHz Bruker Avance Spectrometer, equipped with 5mm TCI cryoprobe is mainly used for high-resolution structural studies of bio-macromolecules.

 

Solution500

The 500 MHz Bruker Avance Spectrometer, equipped with automatic sample changer, several optional probes ( 5mm TXI, z- gradient probe, 5mm BBO z-gradient probe, 5mm 19F-1H probe) is mainly used for structural studies and NMR based drug discovery.

 

Solid500

The 500 MHz Bruker AVANCE solid-state NMR spectrometer is used for high-resolution structural studies of membrane proteins in membranes.  It is equipped with a home-built, 1H/15N flat-coil probe for planar membrane samples.

 

NMR300

The 300 MHz Varian, Inova  Spectrometer,  is mainly used for studying small molecules.

 

nmrlinux computer

This linux configured PC is for NMR data process and backup.

 

Services and Fees

We can collect and process NMR data for you.  You have to request in advance and provide sample information, such as solvent, concentration, and what kind of experiments you want to run and etc.

Only trained users can have access to NMR spectrometers.  Please make appointment with Jinghua (jinghua@burnham.org) for training.

There are charge-backs fees for instrument use and for service:

Requesting NMR Time

            The NMR Facility is open to outside users, but the Burnham Institute users have priority, and the solution 500 and 600 MHz instruments are very heavily used by Burnham Investigators.  See below for instructions on how to book NMR time.

Please email jinghua@burnham.org requesting NMR time for the following month and during the month if there is opening.  Please specify the time you want to get on and off the spectrometers. 

The first request should ask for no more than two weeks.  If there is still opening after one week of your first booking, you may request for more.

 

Canceling booked NMR time

If you need to switch time with other users, please notify the manager.  If you are not able to use your booked NMR time, please email the manager as soon as possible, at least 24 hours in advance.  Otherwise, you will be charged for extra 24 hours NMR time. 

 

NMR schedule

We send an email by the end of each month for the NMR time booking of the following month and some updates during the month.  We also put the updated booking information at: http://myrdal/cgi-bin/nmr/calweb.exe
